Bond Election Coming for Lafayette
The current City Council has given preliminary approval to a bond measure to support improvements to the City’s aging infrastructure.There will be another opportunity for public input before the Council finalizes the language for the ballot measure in August.
The proposal seeks the following:
1.) to upgrade and expand the Bob Burger Recreation Center,
2.) to construct a new building for the Civic Center on land owned by the City, the current civic building is 40 years old, and
3.) to renovate and expand the City’s service center. The Service Center provides the space, equipment and materials necessary for the maintenance of all utilities, streets, fleet, parks and open space.

Ballot Measure for Mental Health Funding for the County
The County Commissioners have preliminarily decided to put a measure before the voters for the funding of mental health services through a sales tax increase.The commissioners are seeking input on the draft ballot language.The state and the county have been severely lacking in mental health services, and this measure is an attempt to remedy that. Larimer County recently passed a ballot measure to fund mental health services. The language requires the Commissioners to create an advisory committee to give direction to the Commissioners on exactly what to fund. If you have feedback on the language, before it gets a final vote by the Commissioners you can submit it to Commissioner Levy. clevy@bouldercounty.gov. The Commissioners will have a hearing on this measure on August 12.
Shall Boulder County taxes be increased $15,500,000 dollars annually (first full fiscal
year dollar increase in 2026) by imposing an additional sales and use tax of 0.15% (15
cents on $100 dollars) with all revenue from such tax to be used for the following mental
and behavioral health care purposes:
Providing the following services to address unmet needs of youth, adults, families, and
older adults with mental health and substance use disorders in Boulder County, including
residents of all municipalities within Boulder County: mental health prevention and early
intervention services, crisis response and intervention services that do not involve law
enforcement, suicide prevention, mental health, and substance use treatment and
recovery services, and assistance finding appropriate services through in-person and
other delivery methods, which may include tele-services, community-based services and
other service options; all in accordance with the Board of County Commissioners
Resolution.
Provided that distribution of funds for such services shall be informed by an advisory
body consisting of representatives of under-served communities, homeless service
providers, mental and behavioral health service providers, municipalities, Boulder
County, and school districts in Boulder County;
And further provided that an annual report shall be published and provided to the Board
of County Commissioners of Boulder County in a public meeting on the designation and
use of the revenues from this tax in the preceding calendar year consistent with its
approved purposes.
